He will be promoting and presentingmaterial from The Trans Canada Airway, his most recent book. This volumegivesadetaileddescriptionof thedepression-built air route constructed across southern British Columbia fromVancouver to Lethbridge, AB. Airports were built every thirty to fifty miles by unemployed men using picks, shovels and wheelbarrows. In doing research for the Columbia Basin Image Bank work we ran across this noteworthy item in the Ainsworth Hot Springs News of December 26, 1891. “It is understood Mr. Anderson, the genial agent of the townsite company, has already deeded one of the choicest unimproved lots in Ainsworth to the first born in the town – the baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geigerich.” Elsewhere the editor expresses the wish “that the little miss will grow up to be not only the joy of her parents, but the pride of the town.” Another Basin First Chris will present new historic material in small Columbia Basin communities from Greenwood to Fernie. Check our web site at www.basininstitute.org for times and places. We will post them once the arrangements have been finalized. 0131.0135 The Slocan City brass band (c1900) Please visit us at: www.basininstitute.org
